Volusia-Flagler spared from worst of Hurricane Helene despite downed trees, power outages

EDGEWATER — Volusia and Flagler counties were spared from the worst of Hurricane Helene, which made landfall as a Category 4 on the Big Bend Thursday.

But locally, the tropical storm’s gusts downed several trees and left thousands without power.
