Houston Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Role in Murder-for-Hire Plot

A Houston resident, originally from Mexico, has been sentenced for his role in a murder-for-hire scheme. Alejandro Cardona-Rodriguez, 23, received a 10-year federal prison term, the maximum statutory sentence, which will be followed by three years of supervised release, as the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Texas announced.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Cardona-Rodriguez entered a guilty plea on May 11, 2023, to charges of using interstate and foreign commerce facilities in the planning of a murder. During the sentencing, U.S. District Judge Diana Saldana cited his violent behavior against another inmate, and the gravity of negotiating for a person’s life as factors in the decision.
