Santa Fe wins high-powered tilt vs. state runner-up Frank Hughes, 50-47

There was a bit more anticipation attached to Santa Fe’s matchup Thursday with visiting Frank Hughes than previous contests in the series – with both the Wildcats and Lions coming off Class 1A state tournament appearances a year ago.

“This could have been a state championship game last year. That makes it a lot more fun,” Santa Fe coach Brad Slaughter said following his team’s 50-47 victory.

The Wildcats concluded a 26-6 season in the state semifinals with their 62-51 loss to Chattanooga Prep – which then ended Frank Hughes’ 26-10 campaign with a 64-41 title game win…
