Dothan man fatally shoots woman, surrenders after hours-long standoff: Police

A Dothan man who shot and killed a woman Friday surrendered to authorities following an hours-long standoff, police said.

Just after 9:30 a.m., 911 dispatchers in Dothan were notified of a possible assault involving a firearm in the 4000 block of Mance Newton Road, said Chief William Benny.

The person who called 911 — a relative of the suspect, 31-year-old Dustin Joe Rigsbee — said Rigsbee told them he shot Harleigh Michelle Dills, 31, at their home on Mance Newton Road, the chief said…
