BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A little needed rain is on the way for Monday, which will help lower the fire risk a touch, though it won’t do anything for the drought. Light rain will arrive in New York after midnight tonight, and get into eastern portions of Vermont and into New Hampshire around 6 to 7 AM. Temperatures may cool off enough for isolated freezing rain in the Northeast Kingdom, so use caution if you’re traveling in that area for the morning commute. The rest of the day will be generally mostly cloudy, though a cold front will touch off a few light showers. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 50s.

Dry weather returns for Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday will be mostly cloudy and a bit cooler with highs in the 40s. Lows will be in the 20s and 30s. Wednesday will be a decent day to be outdoors. Expect partly sunny skies with highs in the 40s to near 50 degrees. After that, a pattern change is on the way, which will be good news for the elevated fire risk…
