On Friday Oct 11, the Bellevue Comet football team hit the road again, this time traveling to face the Starmont Stars. It turned out to be a fun, high-scoring affair with the Bellevue boys grabbing a 40-35 victory.
The Stars struck first, and at the end of one led 7-0. But in the second quarter the Comets roared back, scoring three TDs while adding 2-point conversions after each. In fact, two-point conversions would turn out to be the difference in this one. Jaden Baskin carried the ball in twice while quarterback Cal Bonifas hooked up on a pass with Keenan Kilburg for the other second quarter TD. While the Comets were lighting up the scoreboard in that period, the hosts were adding twelve points of their own, making the Comet lead 24-19 at halftime. Starmont regained the lead in the third after a rushing TD and 2-point conversion for a 27-24 lead. …
