Men Unable to Slow Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. – The University of Northwestern Men’s Soccer team had their work cut out for them as they traveled across the border to take on the University of Wisconsin-Superior, who came in undefeated in the UMAC. This was the second game hosted at Superior’s new stadium, where the Jackets have been offensively dominant. Tonight’s game finished with a score of 0-6.

Superior got off to a red-hot start in the mid-week match, scoring twice in the first 10 minutes. The Eagles struggled to keep the ball off their side of the field, allowing three more goals in the first half for the Yellow Jackets. Northwestern brought 13 subs off the bench giving additional players more on-field experience.

Grant Janowiec (Andover, Minn./Andover) led the Eagles with two shots and two shots on goal, followed closely by Garrett Miers (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial), who shot once on goal. Michael Machuca (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) notched seven saves in 57 minutes of play, while Jonathan Orlowski (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) tallied three saves in the final 33 minutes…
