Several adaptive sport athletes prepare for Baltimore Running Festival

Thousands of people are training to race in the Baltimore Running Festival on Saturday, including athletes in adaptive sports.

Members of the Kennedy Krieger Team plan to bring their winning spirit to keeps their wheels turning. James Morrison, a hand cyclist on the Kennedy Krieger race team for eight years, was a runner before he suffered a life-changing injury.

“The only way to get that runner’s high or to keep up that kind of intensity was getting on a hand cycle,” Morrison told 11 News. “I’m super excited (for this weekend). So, I’ve been trying to catch up with the younger, faster guys, and (during) the last marathon, I was only a minute behind him, so I’m trying to be right there next to him and push him this year.”…
