Clemson women’s soccer falls to Cavaliers following late goal

Brian Warner Goalkeeper Addy Holgorsen had a clean first half against the Cavaliers on Friday, but a late goal solidified a 0-1 loss.

Clemson women’s soccer dropped to the Virginia Cavaliers in its final road match on Friday night by a score of 0-1. The only goal scored came late in the second half, with both offenses struggling to cut through the opposing back line in a defensive stalwart.

The Cavaliers (11-5-0, 4-5-0 ACC) outshot the Tigers (6-8-2, 2-7 ACC) five to four in the first half, but Clemson goalkeeper Addy Holgorsen managed to keep the score at zero with the help of the defense. With one goal allowed, Holgorsen’s season total went up to 16.

Although they struggled against the Cavaliers’ defense at first, the Tigers were given an opportunity with a corner kick towards the end of the opening period. They did not find the back of the net and had three more corner kicks in the second half which did not result in any points…
