Notice of Claim sent against NYPD; attorney says police used ‘excessive force’ on men

Two men are taking legal action against the NYPD following a chaotic scene in Wingate Park Friday. A notice of claim was officially sent to the City of New York and the NYPD late Tuesday afternoon in response to chaos that broke out in Wingate Park on Friday night. Witnesses tell News 12 they were wrapping up the “Dunkin Delight” community basketball tournament when four officers pulled up to the park. Romal Marcus, who was injured that night, tells News 12 that officers began rummaging through bags, in search of guns. When they found nothing, he says people in the park started recording. He says he recalls an officer knocking a phone out of someone’s hand and from there, absolute chaos erupted. “I see one of the young guys being punched on, choked, tased, knocked on the floor, unconscious,” said Marcus, describing how he saw police handling his friend, Sandrew Gauvy, who has since been charged with resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration and…..
