Connecticut Foodshare collects 50,000 donated Thanksgiving meals for families in need

WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The Connecticut Foodshare is sending off its last turkey of their “Thanksgiving for all” campaign.

Helping Local Families: Gr8 Thanksgiving Food Drive Returns

The organization reached its goal of distributing 50,000 Thanksgiving meals to families in need across the state. On Tuesday, Gov. Ned Lamont and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz traveled to Wallingford to thank the staff at the food share for all their hard work.

“There are 50,000 folks in our state tomorrow who are going to have a Thanksgiving meal who otherwise wouldn’t necessarily have one,” Lamont said. “And that’s thanks to each and every one of you and the incredible generosity of the people of Connecticut.”

News 8 partnered with Connecticut Foodshare for the “Gr8 Thanksgiving Food Drive,” collecting 441 turkeys, over 5,500 pounds of non-perishable items and more than $3,200 in monetary donations…
