The Library of Congress recognized Louis’ Lunch in New Haven as the creator of the hamburger. According to sources, Danish immigrant Louis Lassen put grilled ground beef between two slices of bread to serve to a rushed customer in 1900. Louis’ Lunch serves their burgers grilled vertically and topped with simple ingredients.
