ALLENTOWN, PA — The road warriors continue their impressive start to the young season.

In their third game in as many days, the Grand Rapids Griffins used a clutch performance between the pipes and a late rally to take down the Lehigh Valley Phantoms for the second night in a row, sweeping the three-game weekend set.

The notable change in the Griffins’ lineup was goaltender Carter Gylander making his first American Hockey League start. The rookie didn’t seem out of place, turning away the first dozen shots he faced. Gylander gave up a power-play goal early in the second period, he looked confident, making some big saves.

However, despite Cross Hanas finding the back of the net for the second time this weekend, and Sheldon Dries potting his first goal as a Griffin to open the scoring, Grand Rapids was trailing heading into the late stages of the third period after Alexis Gendron and Garrett Wilson gave the Philadelphia Flyers’ top farm team the lead earlier in the frame…
