Snow expected Thursday, could be significant

EAU CLAIRE — Road crews were out in Eau Claire Tuesday putting brine on the streets ahead of what might be the most significant snowfall yet this season.

A cold front arriving Thursday could bring 3-5 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service, with most of it falling during the day. That would be more snow than the area has seen in any storm this winter, but it’s not big by Wisconsin standards.

It’s not guaranteed, either. There are significant variations in the forecasts by different organizations. The NWS estimate was the highest. Accuweather.com predicted 1-3 inches, and the Weather Channel expected the same amount…
