California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (officials are investigating an attack on a peace officer at Mule Creek State Prison as an attempted homicide.
On Nov. 14, 2024, at approximately 6:21 p.m. inmate Kevin Alvarado — allegedly while being escorted to his cell from the shower — turned and attacked a correctional officer.
Staff immediately responded to assist the officer, medical personnel were summoned and 911 was activated. The officer was immediately transported to an outside medical facility where he was treated and was released that evening.
An inmate-manufactured weapon was found at the scene. Alvarado has since been placed in restricted housing pending, and CDCR officials are currently investigating the incident. The case will be referred to the Amador County District Attorney’s Office for possible felony prosecution…
