Miners in Mexico: UTEP beats UACH in exhibition game
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The UTEP men’s basketball team beat Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH) 111-62 in an exhibition contest at the Gimnasio Universitario Manuel Bernardo Aguirre on Saturday night.
“It was an incredible experience. Very thankful for the opportunity to play here. Hospitality was first class,” UTEP men’s basketball head coach Joe Golding said. “Incredible time, great competition. It was fun to go out there and compete against somebody else.”
NCAA rules mandate that preseason exhibition games be contested on the campuses of member institutions. A waiver was approved by the NCAA, enabling the Miners to play a game in Chihuahua in conjunction with the 70th anniversary of the founding of UACH.
