‘We are excited for their return,’ DC Public Schools welcome students back to class

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now )— It was an exciting day at Jackson-Reed High School where nearly 2,000 students headed back to school for the first day of classes. There are a lot of new and exciting things happening this 2024-2025 school year.

D.C. Public Schools ( DCPS ) just launched its five-year road map to student achievement called “ A Capital Commitment” 2023 to 2028 to improve math and literacy. The plan focuses on ensuring DCPS students are safe, loved, challenged, and prepared to positively influence society and thrive.

New craft shop opens in DC to help families express creativity

Staff proudly noted six DCPS students were recently inducted into the prestigious “National Education Equity Lab’s Honor Society.” They earned those spots for performing in the top 20% nationwide in their college courses.

DCPS said more than 50,200 of its students are committed to graduating from high school prepared for college and work…
