Christina considering using reassessment windfall to delay referendum vote

The Christina School District is considering delaying holding a referendum by taking advantage of a law that allows districts to raise taxes during a reassessment.

Most New Castle County residents recently received their preliminary new reassessment values, that are subject to a series of appeals.

Once that process is done, that will create a new pool of total value for an interest, in this case the Christina School District, and then a lower tax rate based off of that value can be created to get back to the same revenue point as the previous assessed value created…
