WEST CHESTER, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is advancing its efforts to bolster traffic safety at key intersections along the Business U.S. 322 (High Street) corridor, spanning West Chester Borough and West Goshen Township. This multifaceted project, currently underway, integrates various improvements aimed at enhancing both pedestrian and vehicular safety in these high-traffic areas.
Scheduled construction activities include the installation of advanced traffic signals at University Avenue and Sharpless Street, supported by retroreflective backplates and modern LED luminaries. Pedestrian safety will be further enhanced through the implementation of countdown timers at signalized intersections, curb extensions, and high-visibility crosswalks. Additionally, comprehensive drainage improvements and full-depth pavement restoration will culminate in a complete resurfacing of the affected roadway sections.
From Monday, September 23, through Friday, September 27, periodic lane closures will occur between Linden Street and Barnard Street, with flagging in place to manage traffic flow.
