Fire officials announce on-duty death of veteran Montgomery County firefighter

SILVER SPRING, Md. (7News) — A Montgomery County firefighter passed away after collapsing in a response to a house fire call in Laurel, Maryland, government officials said.

A press conference was held at the Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center at 10 p.m. confirming that the firefighter suffered a medical emergency near 15609 Bradford Drive and sadly succumbed to his injuries.

“We have been working with the family members,” said Fire Chief Corey Smedley. “We will be here with the family members around the clock. There are so many investigations still ongoing right now, so whatever questions that may come out, we’ll try to answer them as best as possible.”…
