AUSTIN — West Side voters said Tuesday that Chicago taxpayers should not subsidize a new stadium for the Chicago Bears in a ballot referendum question on the topic.

Voters in parts of the 29th Ward, including portions of Austin, Galewood and Montclare, had a referendum question on their ballots that asked, “Shall the people of Chicago provide any taxpayer subsidy to the Chicago Bears to build a new stadium?”

With five of eight precincts reporting, “no” garnered 79 percent of the referendum vote compares to 21 percent for “yes,” according to the Chicago Board of Elections…
