EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — On Dec. 19, a woman pulled into an apartment complex in East Hartford to find a disturbing sight: a female dog left to die while in labor.
“I’ve been doing this for 35 years and honestly, I went home and I really struggled with this,” Dr. Gayle Block, owner of Town and Country Veterinary Associates, said. “It’s so cruel, inhumane and senseless.”

Block and her staff at Town and Country Veterinary Associates were on duty when the call came in. The mother, who was estimated to be about two years old and pregnant, died trying to give birth before they were even able to give her a name.
