Parts of Oklahoma could see storms that produce strong wind and hail Thursday afternoon and evening. >> Check live radar | KOCO weather page | Get KOCO on the GoKOCO 5 Meteorologist Joseph Neubauer says the chance of rain is low, but a level-one marginal risk for storms has been issued for central Oklahoma, including the OKC metro, northern and northeastern Oklahoma. There’s also a level-two slight risk along the Oklahoma-Kansas border near Bartlesville. The biggest risk with Thursday’s storms is for strong winds. The storms could produce 50-60 mph wind gusts. If we get any cells that pop, Joseph says they could produce pea-sized hail in much of the risk zone and quarter-sized hail in the area under a slight risk. Joseph says the storms do not bring a tornado risk. Storms are expected to develop in parts of western to north-central Oklahoma around 4 p.m. on Thursday. They’ll then move through the northern fringes of the OKC metro. Stillwater and areas to the north have the best chance of rain and better risk of severe storms around 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The storms may clip the northern end of the OKC metro from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Joseph says the severe weather risk wraps up to the southeast after 9 p.m. Joseph shows when you can expect to see severe storms in your area.
