Mentor Police are gearing up for their annual goodwill event, the eleventh Fill-a-Cruiser Food Drive. Slated for Sunday, November 10, the effort will see officers collecting non-perishable food items and cash donations from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM—the familiar confines of the Giant Eagle supermarket at 8383 Tyler Boulevard.
According to the City of Mentor’s official website, this community engagement has a hearty history of aiding families within the City through food pantry distributions. Citizens have consistently pooled together their resources in a concerted effort to literally fill police cruisers with food donations, an initiative that has packed 24 vehicles over the past decade.
The event is not just limited to edibles but also a conduit for financial goodwill. Almost $19,000 in cash donations have been amassed through the years, a testament to the community’s generosity.
