JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Investigators with the Jefferson County Sherriff’s Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced that a man has been formally charged in connection to the death of 19-year-old Khia Shields in Wrens.
According to police, Jessie Louis Brown Jr., 31, of Augusta, was charged with murder on Monday, Oct. 28, 2024 in the homicide took place in the early morning hours of Aug. 26, 2023 on Washington Street in Wrens.
Shields, a 19-year-old from Wrens, died after a gunshot came through the wall of in her mother’s home and struck her while she was asleep. She was transported to a hospital in Augusta where she was pronounced dead…
