Arlington school leaders Thursday night (Nov. 14) took a victory lap, congratulating students and staff for athletic achievements during the fall season.
“There’s a lot of great success happening,” Superintendent Francisco Durán told School Board members.
Among the highlights he reported:
- Washington-Liberty, Yorktown and Wakefield high schools are all sending runners to state cross-country championships.
- The Washington-Liberty golf team had an individual region runner-up.
- In football, Washington-Liberty had a 10-0 regular season — its first since 1956 — while Yorktown High School head coach Bruce Hanson recorded his 300th win.
“Football has been really thriving,” Durán said…
