It’s one of the busiest travel days of the Thanksgiving holiday and Mother Nature is throwing in a curveball for many. Rain is starting to push in and will continue to intensify Wednesday evening and overnight. That will lead to even slower traffic than usual, which will already be a nightmare.

Temperatures are in the mid-40s this afternoon, so it should be all rain this afternoon and evening. The heavier rain will be in by 4 to 5 p.m., building into the evening. The earlier you hit the road the better today.

Rain by 6 p.m.

The showers build into the late evening and overnight, and in some areas, it could transition to a wintry mix or snowfall. This is more likely up around I-70 and areas north of Cincinnati. It’s possible to see up to 1″ of snow closer to I-70, so keep that in mind if you are traveling north to Dayton or Columbus, even Lima or Toledo. Here in the Tri-State our ground and road temperatures are still to warm, so any snow that falls overnight will melt.

Scattered showers and even a few snowflakes will be with us for early in Thanksgiving morning, but as we head into the mid to late morning it will dry out. We should be dry by 10 a.m. From there it stays chilly, with highs into the low 40s.

Friday will be much colder with a chance at some scattered snow showers. Temperatures will only climb to 35° with a mix of sun and clouds. From there we get even colder for the weekend as we have our coldest air of the season so far.
