Man accused of killing woman found in burning apartment on Thanksgiving day in 2005

WASHINGTON (7News) — Almost 20 years after a woman was found shot dead inside a burning Southeast D.C. apartment on Thanksgiving day in 2005, police said they found a person likely responsible for the act.

Thursday, D.C. police arrested Southeast man Michael Wells, 53, for allegedly killing Makia Mosby, 23, after she was found dead inside an apartment in the 1200 block of Valley Avenue as crews responded to a structure fire.

D.C. police said their Major Case Squad worked to follow up on leads to identify a suspect in the case, leading to Well’s arrest. Well’s would have been in his 30s at the time of the crime…
