As the holiday season approaches, Cabarrus County is preparing to display the Wendy Gainey Memorial Christmas Tree in the rotunda of its Government Center for the twentieth year. The tree, along with others at the Concord Active Living Center and county library branches, aims to help fulfill local wishes and meet needs during the holiday season, according to the Cabarrus County.

The Gainey Trees, set up by Cabarrus County Helping Hearts and Hands, are a local holiday tradition. The trees feature tags with Christmas wishes from children, senior citizens, and veterans. Items on the tags range from toys and video games to essentials like socks and soap. Residents and county employees are invited to select a tag and help fulfill someone’s holiday wish.
