A tragic event unfolded in Southwest Berkeley over the weekend, where a woman was fatally stabbed, and two men were seriously injured. NBC Bay Area reports that the incident occurred just before 12:30 p.m. yesterday in the 1300 block of Russell Street, near the intersection with Acton Street. Berkeley Police, responding to a separate call regarding a stolen vehicle, were quickly alerted to the more grave situation of multiple individuals on the ground and bleeding.
Upon arrival, police found two men and a woman with stab wounds. While the men were transported to the hospital in stable condition, the woman died as a result of her injuries. As they probed into the matter, police blocked off the intersection of Acton and Russell Streets, where the grim scene of clothes scattered and marked by evidence tags captured the gravity of the situation. Berkeleyside notes that police have launched a homicide investigation but have not made any arrests thus far.
Darrich Armstrong, a resident, conveyed to NBC Bay Area how the police activity stood out in a calm neighborhood. “It’s unusual, you hear stuff going on everywhere, but over in this area, it’s really quiet, there’s not a lot of stuff going on,” he told the publication. A neighbor’s reaction, who wished to remain anonymous, affirmed the community’s disquiet, telling NBC Bay Area they were at home when a disturbed noise drew her outside where a man ran past pleading for “Help!
