Developers downsize Greenwich Avenue project to 12 units, no affordable housing, after major pushback

GREENWICH — Now in its fifth variation, a much smaller development project is being proposed at the bank lot off 240 Greenwich Ave.

The latest version of plans for the site, which has faced considerable opposition from a nearby condo association, are much more modest than earlier plans that called for as many as 60 units there. One plan called for a six story building at the site.

The new plans submitted to the town planning department in December call for 12 residential units in a three-story building measuring 47 and a half feet tall. The project, known as the J Lofts on West Elm, is slated for the Bank of America parking lot and drive-thru facility. The historic bank would remain under the building scheme, and it would be preserved in perpetuity.
