MAHOPAC FALLS- The Mahopac Falls Fire Department Dive Team, the only underwater rescue squad in Putnam County, is summoned for water-related emergencies not only in Putnam’s six townships but in neighboring communities throughout northern Westchester and southern Dutchess Counties when a crisis occurs. In order to prepare for an emergency, members of the team train regularly in order to test the waters and refine their skills.
While undergoing outdoor training year-round, team members also participate in in-door sessions thanks to the Yorktown School District.
Chief Dan Meury Saturday said having access to the Yorktown Middle School’s indoor pool was “absolutely vital for our team to stay sharp and continue training in all conditions. This kind of training helps us be better prepared for any water-related emergency that might come our way.”…
