WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A man has died after an apparent explosion and fire at a home on Horseshoe Drive on Sunday, according to police.
Police and fire crews responded to the fire just before 6 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of Horseshoe Drive. Crews found a 56-year-old man inside the house. He was taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Police said the man died from his injuries early Monday morning.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that an unknown explosion occurred inside the residence, which led to the fire,” police said. “The cause of the explosion and subsequent fire is under active investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies.”…
