CVG braces for holiday travel surge, with national numbers exceeding pre-COVID levels

ERLANGER, Ky. (WKRC) – More than 210,000 passengers are expected to pass through Cincinnati Northern Kentucky International Airport from today through the Monday after Thanksgiving, marking a 4% increase over last year’s travel season. The airport has experienced a 7% year-over-year rise in passenger traffic.

The travel group AAA predicts a record 80 million people will be traveling nationwide this week, either by driving or flying. In Ohio alone, 3.2 million people are expected to travel, with 2.9 million driving more than 50 miles. The busiest travel days are anticipated to be Wednesday and the following Sunday.

Kara Hitchens, a regional spokesperson for AAA, said, “We are exceeding pre-COVID numbers so we figure people are still anxious to get back with family and friends.”…
