‘I’ve been holding this speech in for 15 years’: Cincinnati’s Dave Parker in Hall of Fame

DALLAS — More than 33 years after his last game and 13 years after he last appeared on the writers’ ballot, Cincinnati-raised baseball legend Dave Parker was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame Sunday.

The two-time batting champ and 1978 National League MVP joined Dick Allen in the 2025 class for Cooperstown through voting of the Classic Baseball Era Committee. He appeared 14 on 16 ballots; Allen on 13. Twelve were needed for election.

“I’m looking forward to being there,” Parker, 73, said of next summer’s induction ceremony during an interview on the MLB Network. “I’ve been holding this speech in for 15 years.”…
