DORCHESTER, Mass. (WWLP) – A New Bedford man has become the fifth $1 million prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s JAWS instant ticket game.

The game, which launched on March 26, has quickly become popular among lottery players across the state.
Bacilio Gomez of New Bedford chose to receive a one-time payment of $650,000, before taxes after claiming his prize on October 1st. Gomez says he plans on buying a new home with his prize. The ticket was purchased at M & M Convenience on Rockdale Ave. in New Bedford. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale of this ticket.
The JAWS instant ticket game still has one remaining grand prize of $1 million to be claimed. In addition to the instant prize, the game features Second Chance Drawings. So far, four such drawings have taken place, awarding six winners with JAWS-inspired trips for two to Martha’s Vineyard scheduled for the summer of 2025. These trips include a special game show event where one participant is guaranteed to win an additional $1 million prize, while other contestants will receive prizes ranging from $500 to $10,000…
