It appears the Big Ten Conference has recognized (at least internally) that its officials made a mistake in calling back Minnesota’s successful onside kick against No. 12 Michigan for offsides on Saturday.
ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported that the conference is altering how it officiates onside kicks in the future, adding an additional ref on the kickoff line. Originally it was just a single sideline judge on one side of the field.
In a statement to ESPN, the conference said the change was made to ensure officials are “in the best position to consistently make the correct judgment.”…
