One more round of snow on the way Thursday

One last round of snow will develop across New Mexico Thursday. Light, widespread snowfall accumulations could bring icy roads in southern and eastern New Mexico through Friday morning.

Snow has been moving through southern New Mexico Wednesday, bringing accumulating snowfall from Deming to Ruidoso and Roswell. The snow is fizzling out for now, but a few flurries will continue into this evening in southern parts of the state. Temperatures have been cold today, but thankfully the winds have been lighter so the wind chill is not as big of a factor. Tonight, snow will again move into far southwest and far southeast New Mexico before more snow develops Thursday.

Widespread snowfall will develop Thursday morning across southern and eastern New Mexico as a cold front moves in from the northeast and another storm system moves into the state. Snow will continue in these areas through Thursday evening, with heavier snowfall in the Sacramento Mountains and the Raton Pass. A few flurries will be possible in the Albuquerque Metro Thursday morning, then light mix of rain and snow will be possible in the afternoon. Winds will also get breezy again in the eastern half of the state, but especially in eastern New Mexico. This could cause areas of blowing snow in the afternoon, reducing visibility, and causing more icy conditions. The snow will wrap up through Thursday night with dry weather returning Friday morning…
