ELK RIVER, W.Va. (WCHS) — While Hurricane Helene might be long gone, the impact that it’s had on those in its path are still prevalent today. Former West Virginia resident Jim Brown knew he had to do something to help his new community in North Carolina. High school friend Chrissy Atkinson said she felt compelled to help.
“I prayed about it for a long time because I wanted to do something, but I didn’t feel like money was everything, you know. And I love kids,” she said. “So, I just felt led to maybe ask him about toys. So, I called him and I asked him if it would be possible if we could do a toy drive.”
Atkinson called on donate toys so kids in Boone, North Carolina would be able to have a Christmas like any other. She said the reaction of the children was priceless…
