Methodist Finishes in Ninth at MCC Women’s Intercollegiate

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  The Methodist University women’s golf team, ranked No. 17, completed its final round of the 2024 MCC Women’s Intercollegiate on Monday, and even with members of the team posting better day two scores, the Monarchs were unable to improve their standing and finished in 9th. Round two saw Methodist score 306 (+18) which gives the team a tournament score of 623 (+47).

FINAL ROUND

  • Senior Emily Gresham dipped some in the individual leaderboard, down to T-7th, after she shot a 77 (+5) in the second round. Her two-day total following the completion of the event was 146 (+2).
  • Jumping 12 spots to come in 39th was fellow senior Natalie Brosig, as she shaved 11 strokes off her first round and scored a 73 (+1) on day two. With her bounce-back performance, Brosig ends the tournament with a total score of 157 (+13).
  • Megan Kestner, a junior, took four strokes off her day one score to card a 78 (+6) in round two. Her final score of 160 (+16) bumped her up into a tie for 43rd.
  • Senior Molly McCluskey had an encouraging second day as she improved on her first round score by taking three strokes off, 79 (+7). Unfortunately, it did not help her standing on the player leaderboard, as she dropped three places to T-48th with a total of 161 (+17).
  • Like Brosig, freshman Cloe Rich improved greatly during her second time out on the course. She shaved off eight strokes to turn in a 78 (+6) card and moved up four spots to come in a tie for 51st, with a two-day score of 164 (+20).
  • Junior Jenna Rutledge, playing as an individual, had the second-best round two score of all the Monarchs, a 74 (+2). This gave her a total of 155 (+11) and moved her up to a T-32nd finish.
