SEATTLE — In a one-on-one interview, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell discussed several key issues facing the city in 2025. From downtown cleanup efforts to the ongoing housing crisis, Harrell shared his thoughts on the challenges ahead and the initiatives he hopes will help make Seattle a better place for all residents.
Downtown cleanup efforts: Progress and challenges
When asked about the state of the cleanup efforts in downtown Seattle, Harrell expressed a mix of optimism and realism. He acknowledged that the issue of homelessness and drug use on the streets has been a focal point of his administration.
“I face that question every day,” Harrell said. “And every day, I go out, and people tell me, ‘I see the change. I see the energy. I see the results of your investments.’” He noted that while many in the community have seen improvements, he remains committed to continuing the work until Seattle reaches its full potential.
