Violet’s Venture is an endeavor aimed to promote awareness for animal rescue. The page is run by Genesee County teen Violet McDougall and her mother Becky. Violet was just nine years old when she first aspired to take on the mission. During the pandemic, the family had wanted to find something constructive to do with their free time; they recognized that there was a need in the community and sought out to assist with it.
The duo attributes the start of their mission to a time when they had helped a friend rehome a dog. They had helped locate an amazing family, which wound up being a perfect fit; and in turn the dog found its forever home. Following this experience, McDougall had then started making pupcakes. The desserts were aimed for pets, and the name she had given them was lovingly coined after her cat which was named Pup, who had passed away in 2020. She was then encouraged to sell the desserts. It was after this that she realized she could use her love of animals for a purpose. “From there, that one idea turned into a mission,” Becky said.
Becky shared that she had experienced a brain bleed in the recent past and told the Tribune that it was discouraging. “We’ve been through it, but we were still able to find a way to do something to help out. We want to let others know that you don’t have to start big. Every little bit of kindness that an individual shares can add up to a big impact for these animals. It has been incredible seeing Violet develop the plans and then implement them. She has gained so much character and confidence from this experience; she encourages other kids to find ways they can contribute in their communities as well,” Becky said…
