2 Indianapolis boys die after accidentally shooting themselves, lawmaker calls for change

INDIANAPOLIS — Two Indianapolis boys died on Friday, a little less than a week after police said they got a hold of guns and accidentally shot themselves.

On Aug. 18, IMPD officers were sent to a home near 36th and Dearborn Streets where they found 4-year-old Corione Butts with a self-inflicted gunshot wound . He was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries and died five days later on Aug. 23.

Later that same evening, IMPD officers responded to a home on Golden Meadow Drive near 46th Street and Moller Road. They found a 5-year-old boy, later identified as Jayden Ewing, who had shot himself in his bedroom . He also died this past Friday.
