Girls state wrestling: Quick exits leave area trio looking forward to next year

The inaugural IHSAA state girls wrestling meet was everything the area’s coaches and qualifiers could ask for and more.

A heavy-handed draw lined all five wrestlers, four from Bloomington South, another from Owen Valley, up against highly ranked competitors, making for a short stay with first-round losses Friday morning at the Indiana State Fairground’s Corteva Coliseum in Indianapolis.

That said, seniors Faith Hand and Kaylee Minton from South ended their careers with a once-in-a-lifetime experience while Panther juniors Mariah Pope and Abi Goodwin and OV freshman Maisy Pendleton took it all in with the idea they’ll be back…
