The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently announced it had completed five-year reviews of a dozen Superfund sites across Massachusetts in 2024, including several in Greater Lowell.
The EPA notice rekindled memories of the many industrial and chemical waste-disposal operations that unwittingly or knowingly contributed to a level of pollution that required federal intervention and remediation.
