Homeless shelter seeing greater numbers than anticipated as winter begins

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A local homeless shelter is feeling the brunt of a growing housing crisis just weeks into winter. Western Mass News got answers on what’s causing the alarming rise in homelessness across the state.

We spoke with Tim McCarthy, the executive director of Craig’s Doors, and he told us that locally, they are seeing a greater need this winter than anticipated. He says this comes as the state has seen over a 50% year-over-year increase in homelessness.
