Alleged members of foreign national theft ring arrested at Nike store in Pleasant Prairie

Retail thefts are on the rise. Some do it discreetly and others are downright brazen, like a couple walking out of Target with shopping carts full of stolen merchandise. And it’s hurting retailers bottom line.

PLEASANT PRAIRIE — Village police have arrested three men, allegedly members of a Peruvian national retail theft ring, who were reported to have stolen more than $3,000 in merchandise from a Nike department store in Oshkosh.

The men — Juan C. Yancunta-Quiroz, Jose A. Arteaga-Sanchez and Darwin Velasquez — were taken into custody Saturday night on felony charges of party to a crime of receiving or being in possession of stolen property valued between $2,500 and $5,000, along with outstanding out-of-county warrants, according to the Pleasant Prairie Police Department.

Earlier that evening, officers received a tip the group may have been responsible for a recent theft at a Nike department store in Oshkosh and anticipated they would target the local Nike outlet store, 11211 120th Ave., in the village…
