FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – Donavyn James Mueller, the fourth and final defendant charged with reckless homicide, has pleaded guilty to First Degree Reckless Homicide in the April 7, 2023, fentanyl overdose death of a young man in Ripon.
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric J. Toney announced the conviction Wednesday. The D.A. said Mueller’s bond has been revoked, a PSI has been ordered, and Judge Douglas Edelstein set the sentencing date on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
“The Ripon Police Department conducted a challenging investigation that resulted in another dangerous drug dealer being taken off our streets with this homicide conviction,” District Attorney Toney said in a statement. “Donovyn Mueller was the source of fentanyl, two levels removed from the deadly delivery performed by co-defendants, Schmidt-Rehbein and Springston, which occurred at co-defendant Michael Manske’s residence in Ripon. The source between the co-defendants and Mueller was unable to be charged because he is deceased. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with the families that have lost a loved one to fentanyl and opioids.”…
