Deadliest 10-mile Stretch In The United States
World Population Review compiled a list of the deadliest roads for each state. They also ranked which 10-mile stretch is the deadliest in the entire country.
Coming in at the top of the list was a stretch of road in Phoenix, Arizona. It’s on US Hwy 60 between exits 173-182. From the year 2000-2019, 64 people lost their lives in accidents on that particular 10 miles.
Deadliest Highway In Wisconsin
For roads overall, the deadliest highway is I-94 with an average of 13 fatalities each year. However, that’s not the deadliest 10-mile stretch.
Deadliest 10-Mile Stretch In Wisconsin
From 2000-2019, 24 people died on a 10-mile stretch near Milwaukee on I-43.
The stretch begins at I-43 exit 77 and travels through the metro south to exit 314.
Obviously, traffic plays a big role in the dangerous stretch of highway. Milwaukee is Wisconsin’s biggest city with nearly 600,000 people. It’s definitely congested, and with lake influence in the winter, the roads can get pretty icy, too…
