In the early hours of May 28, Hurricane-force winds tore through Garland, creating a spectacle of devastation greater than any storm in its recent memory. Over 35,000 homes sat in the dark, waiting for the light to return—a wait that lasted an arduous week. Yet, the city’s efforts to clear debris surpassed those of previous tornado incidents in 2015 and 2019 combined.
